Legal Assistant

Location: Clarksville, TN
Pay Range: $35,500 – $52,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Overview

A local, well-established law firm in Clarksville, TN is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support its attorneys and daily office operations.

This position involves drafting and proofreading legal documents, managing attorney schedules, and handling standard secretarial and office duties . The firm's practice areas include Family Law, Labor/Employment Law, Business/Commercial Law, Real Estate, Estate Planning, and Probate (no criminal or personal injury) . The ideal candidate has proven legal assistant experience, is detail-oriented, and can manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Please note: this is not an entry-level position. Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or similar role is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft legal documents across a variety of practice areas
• Review and proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness
• Create and maintain schedules for attorneys
• Answer or direct phone calls, inquiries, and emails
• Handle filing, copying, faxing, and general office maintenance
• Support attorneys and staff with day-to-day administrative tasks

Qualifications

Required:

• 1+ year of previous experience as a Legal Assistant or similar role
• Proficiency in legal secretarial duties, including drafting, reviewing, and proofreading legal documents
• Knowledge of a variety of legal practice areas
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Typing speed of at least 50 WPM
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the work site
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and financial background check with no history of bankruptcy

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $35,500 – $52,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
• Benefits (once hired full-time with the law firm): IRA with matching, AD&D insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, paid time off, free parking, and limited reimbursement for self-paid health insurance
