Effective July 1, 2025 in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 19 , and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

CCHCS seeks to fill a Permanent/Fulltime Pharmacist I position in the Medical Services – Central Fill Pharmacy.

Under the direction of the Medical Services, Pharmacy Services, Central Fill Pharmacy Pharmacist II, the Pharmacist I performs pharmacy duties related to the clinical use of medication packaging and dispensing of drugs and pharmaceuticals for inpatient and outpatient use.

This position is located in Central Fill Pharmacy , Medical Services, which  provides safe, effective and efficient health care to patients within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s 35 institutions.  The Central Pharmacy dispenses prescriptions to both inpatient and outpatient settings and provides clinical pharmacy services where necessary.  Pharmaceutical care is provided to each prison by the local staff of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians through all levels of patient care (inpatient to ambulatory).

Knowledge  of:  Compounding of  prescriptions and  stock pharmaceutical preparations; drugs, chemicals, and pharmaceutical supplies required in the operation of a dispensary; laws pertaining to dispensing and use of narcotics and poisons; principles of effective supervision; department's Affirmative Action Program objectives; a manager's role in the Affirmative  Action  Program  and  the processes available to meet affirmative  action objectives.

Ability to: Compound prescriptions and stock pharmaceutical preparations; supervise the work of others; keep records and prepare reports; analyze situations accurately and take effective action; assimilate and provide information on drugs and their actions; effectively contribute to the department's affirmative action objectives.
