Overnight Luggage Mover- 2 Year Contract

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Pay: $26-30/hour

Shift: 10pm-8am M-F

Job Description

The Overnight Luggage Hauler is responsible for supporting airport ground operations by safely loading, unloading, transporting, and sorting passenger baggage throughout the airport. This role plays a critical part in ensuring flights depart on time and passengers receive their luggage accurately and efficiently. A primary responsibility is transferring a consistent flow of passenger luggage for the entirety of the shift while maintaining safety, productivity, and accuracy standards. You will work in a fast-paced outdoor environment, operating around aircraft and airport equipment while adhering to strict airport security procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Using hands to load and unload passenger baggage, cargo, and freight from aircraft in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Transfer a consistent flow of passenger luggage for the entirety of the shift while maintaining production expectations.
  • Perform physically demanding work, including repetitive lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of baggage throughout the shift.
  • Ensure luggage is handled carefully to prevent loss or damage.
  • Follow all TSA, FAA, airport, airline, and company safety procedures.
  • Work effectively with ramp agents, supervisors, and airline personnel to maintain efficient operations.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas on the ramp and within baggage facilities.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 70 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Experience in material handling, general labor, or airport operations preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of job tenure with most recent employers required.
  • Ability to work overnight hours, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Strong attention to detail when sorting and routing baggage.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme Arizona temperatures.
  • Ability to work safely around aircraft, moving vehicles, and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to pass airport compliance and obtain required security badges.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous airline, airport, warehouse, freight handling, or distribution center experience preferred.
  • Experience operating baggage tugs, carts, forklifts, or other material handling equipment is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of continuous employment with the most recent employers required to demonstrate reliability and commitment.
  • Familiarity with airline baggage handling procedures is beneficial.
  • Strong safety mindset and commitment to following established protocols.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing flight schedules, passenger volumes, and operational demands.
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
