Position Overview

We are seeking a versatile, client-facing Front-End Web Engineer to join our dedicated Support & Maintenance engineering division. In this multi-project consulting and execution track, you will serve as the premier front-end authority across a wide array of high-traffic corporate web properties. Blending expert client ticket management with rapid interface programming, you will triage bugs, clarify UI/UX parameters, and maintain complex enterprise WordPress configurations. This role is built for an adaptable engineer who can navigate shifting context priorities across 5–10 diverse codebases daily without reducing code stability or deployment velocity.

Key Responsibilities

• Front-Line Technical Support: Monitor and resolve incoming client support tickets within our ticketing queue, assessing severity layers, implementing quick hotfixes, and triaging software anomalies.
• Enterprise Layout Maintenance: Modernize, update, and extend complex custom WordPress themes and bespoke Gutenberg blocks utilizing React.js, vanilla JavaScript, and modern CSS frameworks .
• UI/UX & Legacy Refactoring: Trace and resolve cross-browser display anomalies, optimize legacy theme code patterns, and elevate accessibility standards (WCAG) across multi-tenant sites.
• Product Engineering Support: Assist in the front-end code optimization and system interface enhancement of our public product offerings, including ElasticPress.io and SiteWatch.
• Empathetic Client Communication: Translate complex front-end engineering limits or server exceptions into clear, calm, and actionable client-friendly terms via written communication channels.
• Cross-Functional Cooperation: Partner with design, product marketing, and backend engineering teams to ensure client updates are pushed cleanly to production environments under strict milestones.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proven professional software engineering background delivering frontend web applications, responsive components, or theme configurations inside agency, SaaS, or high-volume multi-project consulting teams.
• Authority-level command over standard front-end development technologies: **HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and React.js**.
• Deep, authoritative development fluency in **WordPress theme architectures, Gutenberg block development pipelines, and core layout hooks**.
• Functional, working understanding of **PHP** to safely read backend controllers and navigate core WordPress server models without breaking database integrations.
• Meticulous debugging skills, with a track record of isolating CSS/JS namespace conflicts, resolving layout glitches, and verifying cross-browser performance stability.
• Highly organized context-switcher comfortable managing an active support queue and dividing energy among multiple distinct client code repositories daily.
• Location Context: 100% remote-first workspace infrastructure support open to qualified front-end web engineers based anywhere within the United States .

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

• Prior experience supporting high-traffic corporate websites, online media publishers, or large-scale enterprise headless WordPress systems.
• Operational familiarity leveraging automated AI development tools or prompt optimization scripts to accelerate daily hotfix workflows.
• Experience navigating automated candidate screening layers or recruitment flows processed securely via integrated Greenhouse ATS modules.
