Arkansas Children’s, in partnership with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), is seeking board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Surgeons at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to join our growing surgical team at Arkansas Children’s Northwest (ACNW) in Springdale, Arkansas.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Arkansas’ only health system dedicated exclusively to children and become part of the continued growth of pediatric surgical services in Northwest Arkansas. As ACNW expands its inpatient capacity, surgical capabilities and specialty services, we are looking for a surgeon who is excited to build a practice, collaborate across specialties and help shape the future of pediatric surgery in a rapidly growing region.

Program & Position Highlights

• Join a growing pediatric surgery program at Arkansas Children’s Northwest, the first and only dedicated children’s hospital in Northwest Arkansas.
• Help expand access to high-quality pediatric surgical care closer to home for children and families throughout Northwest Arkansas and surrounding regions.
• Opportunity to help shape the future growth of pediatric surgery and surgical critical care services as patient volume and acuity continue to increase.
• Collaborate with pediatric critical care, emergency medicine, anesthesia, gastroenterology, pulmonology, ENT, urology, orthopedics and more than 20 pediatric subspecialty services located at ACNW.
• Practice in a five-operating-room pediatric surgical unit supported by pediatric anesthesia, specialized nursing and child-focused perioperative services.
• Care for patients within Northwest Arkansas’ only pediatric emergency department and Level IV Pediatric Trauma Center.
• Become part of a statewide pediatric surgical network with access to the clinical expertise, subspecialty support and resources of Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.
• Participate in the continued development of a surgical program designed to meet the needs of one of the fastest-growing regions in the country.

ACNW is experiencing significant growth, with an expansion adding new clinical space, additional surgical and procedural capabilities and increased inpatient capacity. The hospital is expanding to 40 inpatient beds , reflecting the growing demand for specialized pediatric care in the region.

As the region’s only children’s hospital, ACNW is uniquely positioned to keep children close to home while providing increasingly complex pediatric care. The hospital currently offers a state-of-the-art pediatric surgery unit with five operating rooms, more than 20 pediatric subspecialties, diagnostic and imaging services, and Northwest Arkansas’ only pediatric emergency department.

Qualifications

• MD, DO or equivalent degree.
• Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency and Pediatric Surgery fellowship.
• Board certification or board eligibility in General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery through the American Board of Surgery.
• Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Arkansas.
• Strong interest in developing and growing a clinical practice.
• Commitment to providing exceptional, family-centered pediatric surgical care.
• Interest in teaching, mentorship, quality improvement and/or clinical research is encouraged.
