Brimstone Bakery is seeking a part-time Assistant Chef to join our culinary team. This role involves preparing gourmet sandwiches, soups, and salads with a strong focus on catering prep and operations. You will work closely with our bakery team to maintain smooth kitchen operations and uphold our high standards of quality. The position will be split between Cooperstown and Sharon Springs with at least one day in Cooperstown per week so reliable transportation is essential. We offer some flexibility in scheduling , but Mondays are required .

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare lunch items including soups, sandwiches, and salads with consistency, care, and attention to presentation
• Assist with catering prep and event support, including loading/unloading the catering van and occasional on-site service
• Collaborate with kitchen and bakery teams to ensure efficient daily operations
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, following all health and safety standards
• Monitor inventory, rotate stock, and help with ordering supplies
• Support the Head Chef in efforts to improve kitchen efficiency, cost management, and overall profitability
• Maintain personal hygiene and a professional appearance at all times

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a commercial kitchen, café, or catering environment is required
• Strong culinary skills and a passion for fresh, high-quality food
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting
• Familiarity with food safety practices and kitchen sanitation standards
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to take initiative
• ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain before starting)
